The girls are getting so big and learning more and more every day! Here are our stats from the doctor:

Emmy - 25 lb, 12 1/2 oz (70%), 32 3/4 inches tall (80%), and Head 18 7/8 (90%)
Addy - 23 lb 2 oz (35%), 33 5/8 inches tall (90%) and Head 18 5/8 (75%)

They are still very active girls and love to stay busy. In fact, the natives get very restless if we stay around the house too long so we spend our free time (Wednesdays & Weekends) at the YMCA, Park, visiting with friends, mall playground, various indoor play areas, our backyard, or in the basement. I am still working 4 days a week, which has been super hard. So, the house is not unpacked or decorated at all really, but the girls don't seem to notice or care and I choose to spend my free time with them. We are going to get some help with painting soon...just no time.

Addy - loves Yo Gabba Gabba and any other dancing show, Elmo, balls, and loves her mommy. She also loves her daddy, but she really loves me because I am her taxicab. When I am home, I spend probably 90% of my time holding or entertaining Addy. Thankfully Emmy is very patient and does not need/want to be held all the time. Her favorite words are No, baby, Emmy, and More (along with signing it!). She also told me "no more" when I told them no more hitting and no more screaming! She is super smart and runs all my errands - gets stuff for sister, throws things away, picks out books, and pretty much anything I ask her to do. She's a very good listener when she wants to be and loves to have jobs. She throws alot of fits (awful shrieking/screaming/hitting mommy) so we're working on staying calm and telling mommy what we need and saying please and thank you (sounds like peas and tanku). She currently does not wear long sleeves, shoes, and sometimes even makes me roll her pants up.

Emmy - loves George, George (Curious George), also loves Elmo and Mickey Mouse, and basically all TV! She really zones in on her tv and sister could care less. Emmy is pretty easy to deal with unless it involves getting strapped in the car seat, high chair, or diaper changes. She gets super mad. Also, neither girl will ride in the stroller so I have suspended all grocery and other shopping by myself. They scream, run and hide, etc, and it's just not worth it! Emmy loves animals and her favorite hobbies include squirrel chasing at the park and destroying dandelions in the backyard. She "meows" at lots of animals, dogs, cats, and pretty much anything else we see. Emmy's favorite words include Baby, Bubble, Apple, Yum Yum, Owl (sticker on her wall)and "Oh Wow" or Oh {any other word}. She doesn't say "Please" much, but will say Thank you and said Hello this week (hewo). She still laughs and smiles and everything with those big dimples! And, both girls love to give kisses now to mommy, daddy, and their babies!

We sing songs in the bathtub every night and they are really into doing the arm/hand motions and "up and down" and singing just a few words. We sing The Wheels on the Bus, This little light of mine, Jesus loves me, You are my sunshine, If you're happy and you know it...We also practice our body parts in the tub and they know all the basics, plus knees, elbows, and bellybutton. We are working on "Raise your hand if your name is Addy/Emmy/Mommy/Daddy" but sometimes they want to be each other! I think they know they're names though because they can point at each other when I ask. They can also count the number "2" and Addy has said "3" once that I know of. We have skipped #1...ha! No ABCs yet, but we are singing them! The girls are both sleeping well most of the time 11/12 hours, plus a 2-3 hour afternoon nap. Addy has given us a few problems over the last few months with ear infections and needing a lot of blankets, babies, songs, books (stalling) at bedtime, but we're holding our ground!

That's all I can think of for now...I'll post pics soon!

Summer Updates

Hi Everyone! I miss you all and am so sad that I've not been blogging or reading everyone's blogs! As some of you know, we've had a LOT going on the last few months (years). I am sick with a sinus infection today so allowing myself some lazy time on the couch while the girls nap!

A little over a year ago, we sold our house in Nashville and rented a townhouse in Brentwood while we tried to get used to having twins and save money for our next home. It was a really nice break from the responsibility of home ownership. I am so grateful that we didn't have to do any house and yard work while we were feeding babies every 1 1/2-3 hours! In June, our fabulous real estate agent (ME - Ha, ha!) found us a house in Brentwood that was perfect for our family so we made the decision to pack up again and move to our very long-term home. We bought a "rancher" that needs some TLC, but has plenty of space and an unfinished basement for storage (hoarding junk). Here's a pic from the side from the listing. If you try to take one from the front, that tree has leaves now and is blocking the whole house! Ha! We'll be working on the yard this fall, but most of the house will stay the way it is unless we hit the lottery!

Also, Here are some pictures from our first trip to the beach. It was kind of hectic...but we made some great memories The girls were themselves, which is super fun, but also super high maintenance! We went to Okaloosa Island in Ft. Walton and stayed at Sea Oats, which was a cute little condo complex right on the beach. The whole Lewis clan was there, Mom, Dad, Mil, Drew, Alec, Anderson, Lesh, and her boyfriend Matt (who survived!) Ava, Ella, and our wild family of four! We went to our favorite family place in Destin - The Track. I saw a movie with Ava & Ella - Judy Moody! And, we had a few good dinners - Old Bay Steamer, Dewey Destins, etc. We had lots of time at this little covered park just down the road. We skipped some of our favorite places just due the drive through Destin and knowing we would be up at 6 am with the girls! Josh and I would love to sneak off for a weekend at the Hilton with some other couples sometime!!! :)

From May...I fogot to post this...

Hi Friends! We're back for a brief update! I just uploaded pics to the computer tonight from Easter. We went to the Murphys for an Easter Egg hunt the weekend before Easter. Addy did not like the Easter Bunny then...see below. We were in Somerset, KY with Josh's family for Easter weekend and she changed her mind about the bunny after she got her basket full of candy, books, and toys!

Also, here are some long overdue birthday pics. We had a wonderful candy party with cupcakes from Katie Winstead at A Perfect Bite. We just had a few friends and family over for lunch & cake. The weather was gorgeous so we had the party outside!

2011 Updates

It has been a busy 2011 so one post a month (or 2 or 3) might be the best I can do!

The girls are super wild. Both girls are saying Mama & Dada. Emmy is now saying Bye Bye (with a very southern accent.) She also says Whoa and Uh-Oh! I taught her uh-oh in the bath one night and daddy taught her to say Whoa! Addy is busy doing other things and doesn't repeat as much of what I say. Emmy will watch me and try to repeat. Addy has always been good with her hands and I asked her to help me pick up goldfish the other day and put them back in the bag and she did (taking a few bites in between) There are a few partial goldfish in there now. :)

At their 1 year visits, Emmy was 65% height and 60% weight. Addy was 90% height and 40% weight. They are so different in so many ways, but I think they look like sisters. I was just telling Josh that Emmy looks like what I expected our child to look like - a mixture of us (but a lot like daddy). Addy still looks just like Josh/Josh's mom so not at all like me!!??

Emmy is a biter and left her mark on Addy's arm this week. :( She also gives us a nibble from time to time, but we do a better job avoiding it. Sometimes Addy even puts her finger in Emmy's mouth...poor thing. I haven't seen her do that lately so maybe she has learned.

Addy is still my little pretzel. She bends over forward and flattens herself in the bath tub to drink water from the tub. She also drinks water from a bucket in the bath. She is sort of double jointed like Grandma Cindy. Most people can't bend the way that she can.

Emmy is still the happiest baby. She laughs and "cheeses" nonstop and is doing pretty well lately about entertaining herself for a few minutes. She does have separation anxiety and they have to come get me at the YMCA daycare because she won't stop crying...she also does this at church. She knows theses people, but just doesn't want me to leave. I refer to this as getting "kicked out." I don't think Addy has gotten us kicked out of anywhere (that I can remember)

Neither of my girls are walking yet. Mom said I walked at 10 mos, but since there are two of them, they don't get as much practice. Addy has a terribly sweet/annoying habit of wanting me to hold both her hands to walk all day. She takes my hands and twists them around in a way that I know she wants me to "walk" her. If I don't do it or if I stop, she throws a shaking, screaming fit and flops on the floor. She took a few solo steps a month or so ago and then just in the last week has taken a few more solo steps, but still prefers that I walk her around the house. This would be fine, but I feel bad because sometimes Emmy will crawl behind us and fuss. It is hard to be fair to both girls with time. We just do what we have to each day to get by!! Emmy is not really that interested in walking, but does very well standing and practicing with us. She is content to cruise around furniture most of the time.

Both girls are becoming more opinionated every day and getting picky about what they eat. We are continuing to offer healthly meals from all food groups, but a lot of it is purposely thrown on the floor. They will even throw chicken nuggets (gasp) on the floor!! Oh well, I figure if they are hungry they will eat.

Husband is cutting me off for the night, but I will pick back up with more updates soon and hopefully some pics!!

White Christmas

This was our first Christmas as a family of four! And, it was also a white Christmas! We are so thankful to have our two sweet girls this year! We spent Christmas at my parents in TN this year and then Josh's parents came to Nashville on New Year's weekend. Next year, we will switch and travel to KY and my parents will come up for New Years to celebrate then. I can't believe how our lives have changed in the last year Here are a few pics in no particular order:

Look what Pat Pat got us!

Are all those presents for us?

With the cousins at Memama's house

9 month update

Srry it has been so long! Things have been super busy with the Brummett family! Here are a few new pics of the girls. They are getting so big! I can't believe we will be celebrating their 1st birthday in March. This sounds bad as I type it, but I am so glad that I can now occupy my girls with snacks! This has become a life-saver for car rides! They are still not good car riders, but I think it might be better now that we are out of the carriers.

At 9 mos:
Emmy:
- 8 mos, 3 wks, 28 1/2 inches (80%), 19 lb (65%), and 75 % for head (I think)
- Doing a crab crawl with one leg, and is VERY close to crawling
- Still laughs all the time at everyone and everything
- Sleeps 11 hours - 7 pm - 6 am (we rarely hear from her unless she poops)
- Says "mama" - when she crawls up in my lap to pick her up - so I call this her official first word!! :)
- Also says "dada" some, but I'm not sure she knows what it means
- Is very good in her walker and very strong. We call her a bulldozer. She backs Addy in the corner and Addy can't get out.
- Still loves her bottle and milk and is now holding her bottle if I don't do it for her.
- Loves vegetables and yogurt. Sort of picky about food and will lock her lips to certain foods.

Addy:

- Doc visit at 8 mos, 3 wks, Addy was 29 inches (90%), 18 lb, 12 oz (55%), and head was 75%
- Does most of her "crawling" on her butt, scooting around, but can also drag herself with her suction cup hands around on the hardwood
- Sleeps 11 - 12 very restless hours - wakes up crying a lot from 12 am-6 am :( but falls back asleep
- Also says "mama" Ha, ha! Seriously, she sometimes says it when I leave the room or when she wants me to hold her. Daddy is working alot these days!
- Says dada too! Not sure about knowing who it is
- Loves to steal toys! She's my little pick-pocket! Poor Emmy is her usual victim. She is just so fast and her favorite toy is whatever sister is playing with.
- Addy is not a big milk drinker anymore, but loves her food. She eats just about anything! She also holds her bottle very well and has for a while.

Addy riding dirty (literally covered in food)

Emmy Claire

My butterflies

My sweet girls were butterflies for Halloween this year. We didn't do anything, but my mom & dad and my sister and her bf Matt came over to visit. Here are a few pics of the girls all dressed up and also one our trip to the famous "Walgreens" pumpkin patch in Cool Springs! :) We just can't stay out of the house very long. The girls are very set on their schedule with naps and then lunch and then another nap so we don't have a lot of flexibility right now.

The good news is that we have come so far since the last post on sleeping. Emmy goes down, usually without a fight, at 6:30-7 pm and sleeps until 6 am. She dropped her own 10 pm feeding so that was easy! She does stir at night sometimes and wakes us up, but we do our best not to go in there because she is in such a good routine. Addy goes down around 7 pm as well. and wakes up around 9 pm to eat, then again around 3 am because she has pooped or is just restless or wants a snack! She is still a little high maintenance, but things have drastically improved for bedtime and also for naps! Now that they both know that we are not just going to do whatever they want (come get them) they are much more rested and so much happier!

6 mos pics& Sleep Update

I wanted to give everyone an update that we have finally cut the girls off from eating from 10-6. We are on night 14 of this and last night the girls did really well. They woke us up several times, but went back to sleep without hours of crying. It has been a stressful two weeks. Much longer than the doctor thought it would take!

We'll see how tonight goes, but I am so proud of my girls right now! We are putting them down around 6:30-7 depending on how tired they are. I would prefer a little later, but lately they are exhausted by 6:30. We feed them both around 9:30-10 depending on when they wake up. Addy woke up around 5:30 for the day and I went to get her about 5:50 this morning. It would be nice to get a little later wake up time, but she did great overnight so I can't complain too much! ]

Here's my favorite of the 6 mos pics b/c it captures what they are doing. No, not really...the girls are fraternal and were conceived naturally, but there have not been any twins in my family for like 100 years! My dad has fraternal twin cousins, but they are related on the male side of the family. I have learned that fraternal twins are supposed to come from the mom's side because you drop multiple eggs in one month. According to what I have ready, identical twins are considered a fluke. Oh, and I have also been asked, "were you trying for twins?" Ha, ha!

There is always a chance that we could have another set of twins if we have more kids...my doctor says it's 1 in 80 for everyone. I am always hearing stories about people having multiples sets of multiples! It would be so wonderful, but SOOOOO hard!!! I guess all that is to say that we are so thankful for our girls and would not have it any other way!

6 months

Addy & Emmy will be 6 months old on Thursday and we had our 6 month visit on Monday. The girls are continuing to grow and getting tall! I suspect that they will level off now that we're at the 75th percentile since that's how mom says I always measured, but we shall see if they keep climbing the charts! My mom is up for a visit so I get to blog!

Almost 6 month stats:

Addy - 26 1/4 inches - 75th %, 15 lb 11 1/2 oz - 50th %, and head 17 inches 70th %.

Emmy - 26 1/4 inches - 75th %, 17 1 1/2 oz - 75th %, and head 17" 70th %

At 6 months, Emmy loves to worm around on her belly and kick her legs. If she could just get that belly up, she would take off crawling! She cannot lay on her back for any period of time without rolling over to her belly. Addy does not like to be on her belly at all! She loves to sit up and does very well. Addy rolls belly to back, but does not roll back to belly...I think just because she does not want to be on her belly.

They are both eating carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green peas, green beans, whole grain rice & oatmeal cereal, apples, and bananas. We just started on teething biscuits and Addy immediately took a big bite out of hers. She didn't swallow any of it, but continued to bite it and let it fall out of her mouth. Emmy chewed on hers too, but not as viciously.

Both my girls still eat 2 to 3 times a night, and we are working on decreasing the amount of oz in feedings. Addy is very restless and has been sleeping with mommy the last week or two after we gave up on letting her cry it out. She cried up to one hour and wasn't slowing down. She was keeping me up all night so I finally put her in the bed with me so I can shove in her paci, rub her head, and put my hand on her. She won and we lost. But I do think we'll fight this battle again. I just need to get the emotional and physical strength to do it!

Emmy is a good sleeper except for the eating. She loves her bed and goes down easily around 7 pm and gets up around 6 am. She had a few rough weeks when she could not roll from belly to back, but is now getting back to her old self. I am always making excuses for them, but I think that they have needed all this eating to grow from the 5th percentile to the 75th percentile and they just can't get it all in during the day. They still eat every 2-3 hours during the day, but just 4-6 oz at a time. They do not eat well in the morning so we're hoping to back off the night feedings so they'll pick up in the am.

Finally, at the end of summer we went for our first swim...here is a picture of them posing in their bathing suits (size 12 months)!

Emmy The Frog & Addy the Monkey

Early Morning Walks

Since the girls get up around 6:30 or 7, we have been getting out for walks on the weekends before it gets hot. We realized that we did not have a final picture of my belly so Amelia grabbed these right before I went in for my c-section. For any moms out there having twins, this is what you have to look forward to at 37+ weeks! Ha! Update for my curious friens - I actually only gained 29 lbs, but my belly was huge! The girls were fraternal - in two separate sacs, with two placentas -great for the babies, but bigger for the mommy! All the weight came off within two weeks after having the girls, but I don't think my stomach will ever be quite the same! Notice how small my head looks compared to my belly...I am so glad that I'm not pregnant anymore

Pink Ducky Tub

I got so excited to do this post tonight that I am not watching The Hills finale on DVR. Ha! We recently inflated the pink ducky tub that Beth Snow Hale got us and I had been waiting to use it until Josh could help me pile the girls in! We had so much fun propping them up and squirting them with toys. Addy's feet were shriveled when we got out! Here are my two favorite pics (yes, we put toys over their girl parts for pictures - good idea, huh??!)

3 month pictures

On June 19th, we had the wonderful Scott Schrecker take some pictures of the girls. We are so excited to get to move given this not so good housing market. We have the inspection on Thursday and pray that all goes well. My dad did a preliminary inspection for us and thinks all is well. We have also put down a deposit on a place to rent in the Fredricksburg townhomes in Brentwood. It is closer to Josh's work, but farther from mine. But close to Target! I don't know where or when we'll buy another place, but we're very excited to have found a place that has enough room for us. It's 3 bed, 2 Bath, with 2600 SF and a garage so we won't have to be crammed with all this baby stuff. Tentative moving date is 6/14...the same week I go back to work. Not the best timing, but we're getting movers to help.

On other house news, we were hit with straight line winds when the weather got bad a week ago on Sunday morning. It was very scary and sounded like a tornado would to me. I ran with the girls and Ava to the basement and Josh and my sister were both asleep upstairs. I headed back up to get them, but they had already headed down because Josh heard a tree hit the deck. Our power was out for a full week and we stayed with our family and then in a hotel. Not so fun to be displaced with two infants, but we're so glad our family is safe. We had 11 huge 100 year old trees down in the yard, but none hit our house - only the garage and fences. I'll have to post pics soon to show our rainforest yard. It was unbelievable! Thankfully insurance is covering most of it, after our deductible, of course. We're so thankful not to have any water damage since we (like the rest of Nashville) don't have flood insurance.

Emmaline Claire & Addison Grace

Hi Everyone! I've been way too busy to blog lately, but wanted to post a few things and catch up on everyone's blogs! Emmaline Claire and Addison Grace Brummett arrvied on March 23rd at 3:22 and 3:23 pm at via c-section at 37 weeks. Emmy was first to arrive at 5 lbs 15 oz and Addy was 5 lbs 12 oz. We are so thankful that they were healthy!

Both girls love to eat, but don't like to sleep - especially at the same time. After two weeks of no sleep at all, we hired a night nurse to come help us until things get better. I am not cut out to be awake 24 hours a day! They are 7 weeks old today and are sleeping 2 to 3 hours at a time, which is pretty good for them. The first 6 weeks they just wanted to be held all the time and didn't sleep well on their own - maybe 30 minutes or an hour at a time. They are still mostly sleeping in their car seats, but we're trying to get them out of there. I can't wait until they sleep through the night! I guess it will be a while...

We've had some challenges with their food and are still trying to figure that out. They are very gassy and spit up a lot. Addy has projectile vomit some, but the doc doesn't think we should put her on meds since it's not every feeding and they are gaining weight really well. We tried the Enfamil formula for gas & fussiness last week and they don't seem to like it. I tried Enfamil's soy today and they guzzled that down so I may buy more of it and give it a shot. Anything to get their tummy's settled. I am also supposed to cut dairy from my diet to help with their tummies since we are doing formula & breast milk, but I will admit I've had a little cheese and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I do miss my Purity 0% plus milk!

I have 5 weeks left of maternity leave and I'm having mixed emotions about it. At first, I was excited to get back to work because I was so exhausted from feeding them every hour and a half! It sounded very nice to be able to go to the bathroom or have a meal without a baby on my lap. Now that things are getting easier, I'm a little sad about leaving them.

Here are a few pics in no order...

Emmy 4 weeks

Before they decided they didn't like to sleep in their pack & play

Addy 4 weeks

Just born!

Easter dresses

Just a few days old

"Almost" 36 week update

A lot has happened since my last post so here's a little update.

2/24 visit - This visit started out very normal. We had the ultrasound and I sent Josh back to work while I waited to meet with the doc, which is usually a 5 minute thing. It turns out I was dilated to 3 and 90% effaced. I had no idea! So, I was admitted to the hospital immediately and turns out I was having contractions every 5 mins. They put me on Magnesium Sulphate to stop the labor and Penicillin to treat/prevent possible infections. The Magnesium did not stop the contractions and they were increased to every 3 mins so they also started giving me shots of something, but I don't know what it was. That worked and immediately stopped the contractions. The contractions would come back once the shot wore off so they kept me on those shots for 2 or 3 days. I also got steriod shots on Wednesday and Thursday to help develop the girls lungs. It takes 48 hours for those to take effect for the girls so I was so relieved when we made it to Friday at 1:45 pm and I knew they had gotten the benefit of the shots! I stayed in the hospital until Sunday. We had an ultrasound on the girls. It was a really long one and they estimated their weights at 4lb 11oz (Emmy) and 4lb 15oz (Addy). They had weaned me off the IV medicine and checked me and I had not dilated further. So, they put me on Procardia to keep me from having contractions and sent me home on bedrest about 5:30 Sunday night.

3/3 visit - this week's visit was more normal. The girls are stills scoring 8 of 8 on their BPPs and I had not dilated further so I just went back home to the bedrest. The plan is to keep me on Procardia until 36 weeks and then take me off and see what happens.

3/10 visit -another good visit. No change for me or the girls. Estimated weights are 5lb 1oz (Emmy) and 5lb 5oz (Addy). We think they might even weigh more because this office uses different weight charts than the hospital does and the weights calculate lower. I will stay on the Procardia until next Tuesday since my doc is not on call until Wednesday and she thinks I will go into labor again as soon as I come off the meds. We'll be having a c-section since Emmy is breech, but they won't schedule it until 38 weeks. However, they won't stop the labor at 36 weeks - they'll just take me in for a c-section - so I'm ready for the labor anytime now!!

Here's a pic on 3/10 at 35 1/2 weeks

Brummett Baby Updates

Things are so crazy at work right now that I haven't had time to post! I usually try to do it on my lunch break, but there's no lunch break these days. Don't worry, I'm not starving these girls - just eating at my desk while I work. So, I'm taking a break now and here's some scoop since my last post.

Josh and I finished all our labor classes and our infant CPR and newborn care classes. We did learn alot, but are so glad they are over! Felt like grad school again working all day and going to class at night. Yuck! We were both just exhausted.

1/12 visit - I forgot to mention that on 1/12, the girls weighed 2 lbs 3 oz and 2 lbs 6 oz and were measuring in the 45th & 55th percentile. I think that's right.

1/26 visit - They didn't do an ultrasound for the first time. Just checked their heart rates and I can't remember what they were, but they were fine. Also, she checked me and I was not dialating.

2/10 visit - the girls weighed 3 lbs 9 oz and 3 lbs 10 oz. Doctor is still pleased with their growth and that they are so close together. They are slowing down now as we have moved to 35th percentile for weight. Of course, it is all just an estimate, but she said slowing down is normal for twins. My nephew was only supposed to weigh 6 something and he came out at 8 lbs. I am now measuring 41 weeks, which explains why I feel like I"m going to explode!

2/17 visit - this week they did a different type of ultrasound called BPPs - bio physical profiles - something like that. They checked the girls fluid, movement, and watched them practice breathing, etc. which was SO cute!! They look like little babies breathing with their chest rising up and down even through it's just practice. The girls scored 8 out of 8 so they passed their little test. They won't take measurements again for another 3 weeks so no new weights for a while.

The doctor also checked me again and it seems I am slowing progressing. She said my cervix is still long and closed at the top, but is open 1 cm at the bottom. This does not mean I am officially dialating, but it has changed a little bit from a few weeks ago. I'm still measuring 41 weeks and she said they will probably shift and that I will probably end up measuring 45 or so. I guess you can only get so big. I also started to feel worse over the weekend. Just running out of room in my belly and one of the girls kicks me (in the cervix, according to the ultrsound lady) alot, which does not feel good. If the girls decide to hang around until the end, I will have them on 3/30 - the doctor works on Tuesday so that would be the first day we would schedule a c-section or induction. Otherwise, they could come at any time, but hopefully not too soon!

Ultrasound 1/12/10

Here are more ultrasound pics from 1/12/10. The top two are of one baby and the last one is showing their heads side by side. One is breech now and one is transverse (horizontal) but they still have plenty of time to turn around - if they want to! Unfortunately, we still cannot get any pictures of our other girl. She has flipped from head down to breech, but still faces my back. She must be comfortable that way!

Everything still looks good with the ultrasound and I just got great news about 5 seconds ago! I do NOT have gestational diabetes :) I had my test on Tuesday. I was high risk because I have two placentas, which use up your insulin. I worried that the first test would come back high and I would have to go back in for the 3 hour test to see if I had it. Fortunately, Doc's office just called to say my sugar & iron were good!

Also, I had a wonderful baby shower this weekend with my friends! It was so perfect! I should have pics soon so I'll add a post on that! Thanks to all my girls for a great weekend!!

Labor Class

Josh and I started our labor classes last week at Centennial. So far, it has been good. We did some stretches and toured the hospital and that was about it for the first week. At least now, he knows where to take me if I go into labor - 8th Floor. See below pics! :) We met several other nice couples that are having babies in March. We're the only ones with twins so I was amazed at how small everyone's bellies were. They were all showing, but not like me!

Hopefully, I will have more ultrasound pics tomorrow. Last Thursday was supposed to be my gestational diabetes test and ultrasound, but that didn't work out. There was not a single snowflake at 8:30 thursday morning so I showed up with that gross orange drink simmering in my empty stomach to a note that said they did not have enough employees to open the office. A phone call would have been nice...so, I'm not happy that I have to drink it again tomorrow afternoon, but I'm excited to see the girls again! I'll be 28 weeks on Saturday and we're looking forward to this big milestone in their development. 90% of babies will survive (with NICU help of course) at 28 weeks! Our small tree is mainly red & gold and the big one is brown, silver, and gold. I think multiple trees are great Misty! :) I'm going to look for either a pink one or a white one on sale after Christmas to put in the girls room next year. They definitely need their own tree! Santa might even sneak in their room to put the presents under it!

22 week visit

We went in this morning for another ultrasound and checkup and are happy to report that all went well. Both girls are measuring right on track at 1 lb, 1 oz each! They were also able to check the baby's heart that they could not see last time. She is still facing my back and won't turn around for pictures, but we're glad to know that she has a healthy heart. Praise God for another wonderful doctor's visit!

We go back in a month for another ultrasound and my gestational diabetes test. I am at high risk since I have two placentas so we're praying that I don't get that. We found out last week, but I'm just now getting around to posting it. I do have to give credit to my sister and her labor/delivery nurse friends. They did not see any boy parts at 14 weeks and guessed two girls at 16 weeks and they were right! Now, it's time to work on names and the nursery!

Everything went well with the ultrasound. She confirmed they are in two sacs and have two placentas, which is good for them so they're not competing for blood, food, etc. They could be identical or fraternal, but fraternal is more likely percentage wise. If the egg split early, it could still mean they are identical even if everything is separate. We're learning lots about twins!!

One girl weighed 8 oz and one 9 oz and both look healthy. She could not see everything on "Baby A's" heart & face, but what they could see looks normal. We have another ultrasound in early December and they will check those two things again. Baby B posed perfectly for the photos and everything looked good. We're so thankful that our girls look healthy and hope they stay that way!

Happy Birthday to Me

This year, I got a birthday present from my babies...a dark line is starting to appear on my stomach. Yikes! Josh noticed it this morning and told me it was beautiful (love is blind) :). It's not the most desirable present, but hopefully it means they are continuing to do well. I read about it and apparently it is a 2nd trimester thing-hormones causing extra melanin production and/or your stomach muscles stretching. My sister got it, but mom said she did not. It is supposed to go away after pregnancy!!

Also, thanks to Laura for hosting us for girls night and my birthday celebration. We had pizza and yummy chocolate b-day cake! It was the perfect night for the prego and the babies. Josh and I will probably go to dinner and do some relaxing and shopping this weekend. I need some maternity pants for work and a cute shirt for Laura's big 30 party next weekend!! If my stomach will cooperate, I am really wanting Buffalo Shrimp from Hooters! Romantic birthday dinner, ha, ha! I loved spicy food before I got pregnant, but now am kind of afraid to eat it. So, we'll see how that goes. Sometimes even bland food makes me sick so I think I'll take a chance!

Growing Babies

We had another doctor's appointment today and both babies are still doing well. The doctor tried to use the doppler to check the heartbeats, but the babies are so close together that she did an ultrasound just to be sure she was picking up two separate heartbeats. They are both breach and side by side. Josh says they're best friends!

One heartbeat was 140 and the other was 160 so maybe it is a boy and a girl!! That is what most people are guessing. We find out the sexes on 11/10 so I will have big news then! The baby in the left picture did not want to cooperate for the picture. It just kept moving! So, it seems to have a much smaller head than the baby on the right. We're pretty sure it's just the angle!

Potential Bedding Pics

Just for fun...here are some pics of fabric/bedding that I like.

Cute pink girly bedding for two little girls from RH Baby & Child. It's Alexander Henry "Seventh Inning," but unfortunately it seems to be sold out everywhere. I called the manufacturer and they aren't making it anymore. The top one is aqua and the next one is silver sage. Both from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child. I have seen names on them on the website that are boys and girls names so I am thinking the colors are appropriate for either. I'm not sure yet if we will purchase or have it made. I guess just depends on what we find and prices. I'd love to make some of it myself, but at this point, I'm still feeling bad so I prefer to spend all spare time sleeping!

Ultrasound

Sorry for the delay on this, but here is the ultrasound pic from a few weeks ago when we found out we were having twins. The baby on the right is upside down! We just can't wait to find out their sexes, but it will probably be another month or so. We have learned that twins will sleep in the same crib for a few months, and then in cribs side by side. So, I am already thinking about bedding. Of course, if they are two girls, there will have to be lots of pink in there. If they are boys, I will probably do a vintage baseball theme. And, if it's one of each, then I'm thinking silver sage/brown like the colors from RH Baby & Child.

Baby News!

Well, it is finally time for me to share the news that I'm pregnant! I'm 10 1/2 weeks and we had our first ultrasound this week. I have been dying to tell people since we found out Josh says so that I have more people to feel sorry for me...which is true because I have been so sick. But, also because we are so excited!! We are so thankful to be pregnant!

Then, we found out the news that we're having TWINS! We were so shocked as we didn't think we had twins in the family. Josh and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday, August 25th! We had a great day together on Saturday to celebrate! We went to Franklin to The Factory and The Farmer's Market and walked around that morning. Then, we went to a movie (The Ugly Truth) and a late lunch/early supper at one of our favorites J. Alexander's. We had such a great day just relaxing together. Then, on Tuesday, he surprised me with flowers at work! They are on my desk and still look great. Thank you honey (& Emma's)!
